How to read climate and data-basis badges
Climate badges describe practical cultivation performance, not simply the highest number in a temperature range. Read each culture’s data-basis badges and notes alongside its climate badge.
HOT Capable of fruiting at 80°F+; check the evidence and notes for the culture.
WARM Strong performance around 70–80°F.
MODERATE Best around 60–75°F.
COOL Generally needs temperatures below approximately 65°F for good initiation or fruiting.
TESTING Strain-specific performance is still being established.
RESEARCH Maintained for a specialized cultivation or research objective.
TT TESTED Texas Toadstools has personally demonstrated meaningful performance with this culture.
ESTABLISHED Culture-specific cultivation information is available; this does not mean TT-tested.
PUBLISHED Ranges primarily derive from cultivation literature for the species.
TESTING We are establishing strain-specific performance.
All temperatures are in °F. Colonization describes mycelial growth; fruiting describes mushroom production. Humidity, fresh air, substrate, and management also affect results.
